I have been journaling since the beginning of this COVID outbreak and I found this habit of writing regularly so much beneficial. I feel much lighter, my thoughts are more organized, my writing has improved. Here are some of the reasons why you should journal.

For Self Reflection 🌻

On an average day, we do a lot of things and a lot of thoughts are going in our heads. We learn a lot of new things, we make various mistakes, we are engaged with various people. But, a lot of us don’t spend time introspecting. By writing journals, we can get rid of all those thoughts as we jot them down on a piece of paper or laptop. By writing journals, we can stop for some time and we can focus on ourselves and then come out with a lot of positivity.

We can use the journals to write about what mistakes we made and then try not to repeat those mistakes. We can use it to think about how we have developed from what we were before. By self-reflecting, we would be able to get to know ourselves better and make the changes we need to make and we can show gratitude for the good things which have happened

For remembering things 💭

On an average day, we consume a lot of information by reading books, watching videos, reading blogs or news, in our classes. But, we forget most of the things which we learn in a day. The reason is that we don’t recall the things which we learn. By journaling, we can solve this problem of forgetting things.

I used to forget most of the things before I started journaling but nowadays I can recall most of the things actively. Every day, I write in my daily journal about the things which I learnt at night. In this way, I have to recall what did I learn today and by doing so I can remember things much better.

Also, I go back to my journals, again and again, such that I don’t forget the things which I learnt. I would suggest that everyone should maintain a journal to write about things that we learned in a day. The learning can be even a YouTube video or a quote.

Better writing ✍

I have improved significantly in expressing my thoughts after journaling regularly. I can write much more clearly and use the least words possible. Also, my typing speed has improved a lot as I journal digitally on my laptop and by doing so my productivity has increased. So, if you find it difficult to express yourself, you should start writing journals.

Positivity ✌

Journaling every day helps me by helping me to get rid of so many thoughts which used to go through my mind and also helps me to focus on important things. I have made it a habit to write every day about things for which I am grateful. Gratitude can be for anything be it food cooked by my mother, helped by someone or any kind gesture by someone. By showing gratitude for things happening every day, I feel a lot more positive and happy.

Better Thinking 💭

By writing journals regularly, I can get rid of excessive thoughts and I can focus my energy on more important things rather than wasting it on trivial things. Also, by writing regularly, my flow of thoughts is improving, and I can come up with better ideas. I have been writing blogs in my personal blog which is again sort of a journal for me and by writing regularly I can come up with various ideas about which I can write.
